The Sovereign's birthday has been celebrated in Canada since the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901).
May 24, Queen Victoria's birthday, was declared a holiday by the Legislature of the Province of Canada in 1845.
Just in case you had forgotten! ;)Just a casual weekend at home,a no stress weekend, going for long country rides that may or may not include an ice cream cone and maybe a BBQ or two.... rent a few movies for the evenings ....

That sound like a good weekend. Mine is horse rides and cook outs...making that home made ice cream with banana bread cake to go with it! :D
Oh, what a nice holiday; I think I'll celebrate it with you! No big plans down this way, kitchen closed so we'll eat out a lot; maybe rent a movie.

Taco salads for lunch today (I picked them up at a restaurant)....Reading, watching a movie and....sitting on the patio watching the silly kittens cavort.
A casual weekend at home and a BBQ sounds like Memorial Day at the beginning of the summer in the US.
I happen to be on a ship now, though, and tonight will be a special formal dinner honoring those leaving soon. Such dinners are always quite nice, but I am truly looking forward to a relaxing BBQ at home!

It just seems funny that a totally foreign blog, would leave a comment in a totally English speaking blog. Doesn't it?
