My Dad

Its been 9 long years today since my Dad passed away, I miss him so much I miss his presence in my life.I know he is with my mother, his wife of 50 years and that makes it bearable for me to know they are together for eternity.

The one most remarkable thing about my Dad that I can tell you is that he was the most honest and trustworthy person I ever knew.

Before his health started failing he would go out and run his 5 miles a day until he could only jog them, then it slowed down to a walk he never ever gave up he was my hero.
He has such will power.
My Dad is on the left his twin sister on the right.
In the picture an uncle is holding the twins he is on the left.I have those little shoes!!!
Aren't they precious children!

This is my Dad with a younger sister.
This is my Dad with his mother he is the little boy on the left,my Grandmother had one more daughter after this when my Dad turned~~~ 20 !!! Yes you read that right!
He was a very active handsome young man!
This was the year he met my mother, look how damn handsome he is !!
Many people said he looked like Clark Gable.
He married Mom in 1949He was a Sergeant on the Police Force for many many years.
Dad and I................ can you tell I was Daddy's little girl??
I am still my Dad's girl , maybe not so little anymore but I am his daughter and he is my father and I miss him .

Oh, he does look like Clark Gable! You have a mixture, Diane, of your mother's and father's smile. Leaning a little more toward your mother, I'd say. I am so glad you have these memories. Though I will never have these as such, or know a father, I kind of live through stories such as this...

Oh, Diane, that made me cry, but very happy tears because I could tell from your post how much you love your Dad. I read somewhere "that which is loved is never really lost". I thought it was a beautiful quote, and it fits here perfectly; you never really lose them, they are just waiting for you on the other side!
Your mom and dad look so beautiful in the wedding photo! Just think how lovely that they are together again now and never have to be apart again!
What a fine tribute you've posted to him; you know he's looking down on you smiling!
Hugs to you, I know how it will always hurt!

Diane, what a wondeful tribute to your Dad and his life. I too was a Daddy's girl......in fact when he passed the florist was going to put 'Father' on his casket flowers.....through tears I asked that it be changed and 'Daddy' written on the banner instead....I miss both of my parents so much. Thank you for sharing.

Such a wonderful loving tribute to your dad's memory! He certainly was a very handsome man and yup, I do see the Clark Gable resemblance:-) How delightful that you have so many pictures of him as a young child...that's something I've never seen of either my mom or dad. The earliest pictures I've seen of my dad he was 13 and for my mom, she was 14. I can understand how much you're still missing your dad, I still miss mine as well and he's been gone 30 years! xoxo

What a lovely tribute to your dad. And yes, he was absolutely gorgeous. More George Clooney in today's terms than Clark Gable.
