Every Winter !!

I will start off by saying everyone in the house is well~~~~~AMEN!!
Thank you all so much for your words of comfort it actually means a lot to me knowing someone out there actually cares enough to say so.Thank you!!

I feel terrible ...every time I come near my hubby and mother in law with my little box they cringe .......they know I want a blood sample but they both know its for their own good and well being.
But its working ... my little system .....so if it aint broke don't fix it right!!!

Now for my little story and pictures to go with it, every noon time we got for a coffee at a nearby lake, its to get out of the house get some air, in summer we watch the ducks its a truly lovely little place to go relax, many people walk around the lake year round, and the beauty of it is............. its right in center of town!

We feed the birds and ducks in summer but as you know they are capable of finding their own dinner most of the time, but in winter they need a bit of help, its so sad watching them all puffed up trying to stay warm and here we are sitting in a nice warm car sipping our noon time Timmy coffee.

So a few years ago we started feeding the birds who are there at lunch time , we bring a huge bag of seed ....... they know the color of our car now and we can hardly get out the door to open the trunk and rescue the seed bag for them.
My wonderful generous son feeds them every day , he gives them the whole bag of seeds weighing about 18 pounds.
Today I took a few pictures so you could see what we see every day.Just watching them peck frantically is all the thanks we need.

Here we are trying to get out of the car to walk to the trunk of the car, they KNOW US!!!
They know here comes food!!!

This little guy is making sure were not holding out on him!!

Here is my son feeding the birds the whole 18 pound bag!!

They have calmed down now to eat and they peck away furiously!!

We even attracted a crow or two looking for a free meal !
I know they are pigeons and most people look down on them but they are one of God's little creatures and need a little help in our very cold winters.

That's kind of you, but doesn't the Bible say that God takes care of even the birds in the air?

I hope that you feel better soon.

Hey, I only see blank spaces, are you missing some photos? There are 2 photos near the bottom.
That is adorable and so generous of you. I always think it says a lot about the personality of people who take care of animals, expecting nothing in return...

PS Never mind, now all the photos are there! Not sure if it was me or google reader...

that is so kind of you. Does your son feed them a full bag of seed EVERY day?

I am seeing all the photos. Don't know about Nola. I am so happy to see you all feeding those pigeons. I happen to love pigeons. I find them elegant creatures. An 18 pound bag! Does he do that everyday? He must be one sweet son, that one of yours. To be so nice to a bunch of birds. Somehow I just didn't visualize a man being sentimental like that towards them. Shows how much I get out and about!

I love birds and I know those little fellas are proud to find a meal in the cold. I know that pigeons are smart too, I used to fight with some that roosted over the tax office doorway. They usually won every battle. :-)

If I get a chance to spend a lunch hour or 2 with my boyfriend - we go to a park and feed squirrels and ducks. It's a nice way to spend the time. And they don't bother us at home! :)

I love feeding wild birds like that...when Steve & I go to Niagara Falls, we always make sure we go on Dufferin Island to feed the ducks and geese there. We always buy a big bag of seeds and they go nuts, just like those pigeons you show in your pictures:-) xoxo

Oh, I loved this post! I used to feed the ducks here at Milliken's pond, and they knew my car, too! It was funny...they would be up to my car before I could get the bag out of the trunk. They love scratch feed, which is cracked corn. That's what we were told to feed them. We had about a hundred mallards when we lived on a lake (before our divorce) and those dear little things would come running if they saw me working in the yard! Yep, the crows need to eat, too! That's how I feel about squirrels....everyone complains about them getting their bird feeders, but I feel the same way you do and have said it many times, that they are God's little creatures and they get hungry, too. What a touching post this is!!! I absolutely LOVED it!!!!
