Ottawa

Ottawa is a huge city, but its got that small town feel as well, especially in the market.
The market wasen't in full operation its a bit early yet,its one of my favorite places to go see and experience,I love getting a cold drink and sit in one of the outdoor cafe's and watch the shoppers go by.
I really enjoyed my week there with my daughter and my son, after breaking my arm recently I needed the getaway,I can feel my normal coming back now.
This time my daughter took extra time off and took me to Messina to shop, yup I was in the good old USA for all of 4-5 hours. Its about 2 hours from Ottawa by Cornwall way.
We love going to a few stores there and ending with a trip to a grocery store,I cannot beleive the variety they get that we dont.... why do you American's get such a huge variety of everything to compare to us??
We filled up the car with goodies and because it was mostly grocery items we bought we didn't have to pay duty.
We eat out every night internationally I just love that... and no dishes !!(( Best part))
Ottawa is a gorgeous city well worth the visit with its museums and different places of interest.
I didn't take these pictures myself but I wanted you to see a little bit of what I am talking about.
Have you ever been there???

PS ... Its going to be a rainy week you know what that means????
The snow is going .... going... not gone yet but at least there is hope now....by the way not a speck of it in Ottawa I was in a tshirt all week, coming home to piles of it was not easy after such a sunny warm week....

Looks like you and your daughter had a great time! The city looks very European. I've never visited that "far north", but maybe someday! Glad you are feeling better, you've been through a lot these past few months!

Welcome back home, I'm so glad to hear that you had such a lovely trip:-) I haven't been to Ottawa since I was 16 years old so I'm really due to go back!!!!

I agree with you, it's not fair all the different varieties of food that grocery stores in the States has compared to us! lol Whenever Steve & I go to Niagara Falls, we always cross the border into the states so that we can go to Target and Topps...you wouldn't believe the different flavours of Coffee Mate creamers they have there, I always buy lots of the Cinnamon Vanilla which we don't have here. We always end up with a trunk full of groceries! lol xoxo

Ottawa is our favourite city to visit and we plan to go for a couple of weekends this spring and summer. I love the market too. My husbands favourtie thing is to wander around Parliament. Once we were so lucky we got to sit in Mr. Speaker's chair ... that was his highlight.

What kind of flowers is in the field, you think? And what kinds of things can you get in the US that you can't get in Canada? I'm just curious. I guess I should be very thankful for our vast variety of goods! (I'm so very glad you got away for a bit!)

Sounds like you had a wonderful trip, that's great! I hope the snow melts quickly!

And now you have ME wondering, why DO we have more stuff in our grocery stores than you? Hmmm.

Just recently I went into Canada on a 100 mile train ride from Michigan.I can't remember the name of the city, we took a train into a canyon. It was in the fall and the air was clean and fresh. I remember going into a pharmacy and it looked no different. Maybe it was so close to the US. So glad to find your blog. Please visit me if you find an opportunity. Happy Mother's day.
